By combining these four applications, a user can access the vast majority of TNT channels without a subscription or decoder. The main drawback remains fragmentation: one has to juggle between several interfaces to recreate the experience of unified channel surfing.

The distinguishing criterion is simple: if an application offers all paid channels (Canal+, beIN Sports) for free, it is illegal. Legitimate applications are limited to free TNT channels and the replay catalogs of audiovisual groups.
